About me

Jordi Robert, marketing consultant and former Global Marketing Director at Factorial

I'm Jordi Robert. I help companies win customers, improve their marketing and build teams. I also build my own projects and share what I learn along the way.

I was Global Marketing Director at Factorial, where I ended up managing an annual budget of 20 million euros and a team of 42 people. Then I co-founded Ramensoft. Now I combine marketing consulting with my own projects and learning artificial intelligence.

But it all started much earlier, building websites out of curiosity.

How it started: from building websites to working in SEO

At 15 I built my first website, for my school. By 19 I was experimenting with a recipe site and an online supermarket. Other projects followed, with advertising, affiliate marketing and different ways of making money online.

I learned on forums, on blogs and by trying things. I liked building a website, but what interested me most was something else:

Getting people to come, use it and, when it made sense, buy.

My education took a few turns. I studied Audiovisual Communication, and also agriculture and livestock farming. I have always loved nature, even though professionally I ended up in digital marketing.

At 23 I found my first job on a forum, as an SEO assistant at an online gaming company. There I ended up managing projects and a team of 14 people.

Later I joined Quipu, an invoicing and accounting software company. It was my first startup, and a good school for learning to win customers on limited resources.

Factorial: six years growing with the company

When I joined Factorial there were about eight of us and around ten customers. Over the next six years the company grew to about 1,200 people, more than 13,000 paying customers and roughly 70 million euros in annual recurring revenue.

I grew with it. I ended up as Global Marketing Director, managing an annual budget of 20 million euros. I hired more than 30 people and came to lead a team of 42.

Living through that taught me what a company needs at very different stages. What works when there are eight of you stops being enough when there are several teams, markets and thousands of customers.

From doing the marketing to leading teams

At first

In the early stages I worked directly on strategy and execution: SEO, paid media, conversion rate optimisation (CRO), email marketing and social media.

We had to decide what to do, get it going and see whether it worked. If a campaign didn’t bring in customers or a page didn’t convert, the job was to understand why and change it.

As we grew

As Factorial grew, my work moved towards hiring senior people and directors, organising specialised sub-teams and managing their leads.

Also towards setting goals, allocating budgets and aligning marketing with sales and product.

I’m comfortable in both settings. I can work hands-on in the technical and operational side of a business that is just starting, and I can also build and lead the marketing organisation a larger company needs.

03

Why I left Factorial and became a consultant

Factorial was a very important chapter for me. I learned a huge amount and worked with people I take a lot away from.

It was also an intense one. After years of growth, pressure and long days, I decided I wanted to work differently:

To keep doing things that interested me, and to have more time for my life outside work.

I took a few months off and then started working on my own. I worked with Take a Chef as a fractional CMO, leading marketing part time, and with other clients on SEO, advertising and email marketing.

I liked being able to bring my experience, staying close to the business problems and organising my time better.

Ramensoft: starting up again with Fika and Handinger

Later, Pau Ramon, co-founder and former CTO of Factorial, asked me to join Ramensoft together with Josep Jaume. I came on board as co-founder and head of marketing and sales.

We worked on two products:

Fika

A publishing and newsletter platform.

Handinger

A tool for building artificial intelligence agents and automating tasks.

It was a return to the first days of a project: deciding what to build, how to explain it, where to find users and how to turn that interest into revenue.

Ramensoft ended up closing. It is part of my story too, and I think it matters to say so. Not every project works out, even with experience, hard work and drive behind it.

How I can help with your marketing

My experience combines strategy, execution and team leadership. Depending on where your company is, I can help you:

Define a marketing strategy

With priorities, budget and clear goals.

Work on SEO and content

To attract people who can become customers.

Improve conversion

On your website and your landing pages.

Hire senior people and coach leads

And organise the marketing team.

Lead marketing part time

As a fractional CMO.

In a company that is just starting, I can define the plan and carry it out myself. If there is already a team, I can help find what is holding results back, improve processes and support its leads.

I like to understand the business before proposing anything: what you sell, to whom, how customers find you and what makes them buy. From there, we decide where it’s worth investing time and money.

What I am working on now: marketing, software and artificial intelligence

Now I combine consulting with my own projects. I’m learning to build software with artificial intelligence tools, and using my marketing experience to take those products to market.

I’ve worked in marketing for years. In other areas I’m just starting out, trying things and getting them wrong. I enjoy going back to learning by doing.

I’ve also become a father, and I want time to enjoy my family. That shapes the projects I choose and how I organise my work.

On jordirobert.com I share that journey: projects, marketing experiments, tools I try and results. I want to tell what I’ve done, what it cost, what worked and what I would change.

If you’re building a business or work in marketing, I hope you find something useful here.

Shall we talk about your project?

If you need help winning customers, sorting out your strategy or building your marketing team, tell me where you are and what you want to achieve.
